Take Action

Join and Enjoy

Join the Friends of Northeast Denton (FOND), follow us on social media, and tell your friends and family about our efforts. Watch our FOND Facebook page and this website’s News and Updates section for calls to action in our effort to save Northeast Denton from disruptive development. We might need you to write to City Council or Planning and Zoning, attend a meeting to voice your opinion, or rally your friends and family to support this effort by putting a sign in your yard.

Enjoy the area by coming to spend some time in Northeast Denton. Take a hike at Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center where you can enjoy prairie, woods, and wetlands. You might see deer, armadillos and beavers, and birds of many varieties.

Or take a bike ride in a bike friendly community. Head up Mingo Road past the poor farm, wind through the twists of Cooper Creek, and fly past the historic World War II hangars on Hartlee Field Road. Then say hello to the family of Canadian Geese who live on Farris Road before you push yourself up the hill toward Hodge Elementary.

The drivers in this area expect to see walkers too. Bring your kids in their strollers and take a quiet walk past the family farms and fields of wildflowers.

If you come to Northeast Denton you will immediately understand why it must be saved from the developers who want to pack it full of high-density housing and dangerous traffic. Once the open, ecologically sensitive, natural spaces are gone, they are lost forever. It is up to us to save it for future generations.
